With miles of sandy beach, Bretignolles-sur-mer is an ideal setting for a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings or for embarking on energetic water-based activities such as surfing, sailing, kite-surfing or swimming. Cycle paths and footpaths abound in many directions, reaching local towns and villages, through coastal paths, dunes and forests. This is also an area with much to interest historians or bird watching enthusiasts. Many attractions including the Puy du Fou historical theme park,  and Futuroscope, Park of the moving image, are within easy reach by car.

The town centre is approx 2.5 km away and has cafes, restaurants, bakeries, banks and a large supermarket. The colourful & interesting local markets are held on Sundays and Thursdays.

PLACES TO VISIT
Local attractions in high season include the Pays de  Brem vineyard, the Maize maze, Parc d’attraction, funfair and Vendee miniature village. In addition to a variety of water based sports, activities such as horse riding and quad biking are available. There is a popular golf course at nearby Coex.

ST GILLES CROIX DE VIE (5 miles approx): Vibrant fishing port with excellent seafood restaurants. Boat trips to the nearby island of Ile d'Yeu leave from here during the summer. Sea-fishing trips are also available. Nearby reservoirs and salt marshes offer more water sports, canoeing and angling (holiday permits required).

LES SABLES D’OLONNES (16 miles approx): With its long beach and bustling seafront promenade.  The yachting harbour is famous for hosting the finalé of the Vendée Globe race.
